POLICE WARNING FOR PLANNED FREEDOM PROTESTS

Police have issued a warning ahead of freedom protests planned this weekend in Ballina, Byron Bay and Tweed Heads.

Officers say extra resources will be brought in to disrupt the protests including the riot squad, dog squad and highway patrol

They say the gatherings are a risk to public health.

“Let me just urge people if they intend on coming to any of these protests that they simply don’t. Because its a risk, its a risk to the community. ” Superintendent Dave Roptell said.

Anti-lockdown protests in the region in recent weeks have resulted in hundreds of arrests and fines.
