CYCLIST DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR ON CENTRAL COAST

A cyclist has died after being hit by a car on the state’s Central Coast.

Just after 2.30pm on Friday, emergency services were called to Empire Bay Drive at Kincumber South, following reports a cyclist travelling northbound had been hit by a passing car.

Police began CPR on the cyclist, before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene.

The driver of the car was uninjured and taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

He’s since been released and taken to Gosford Police Station, where he is assisting police with inquiries.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police District, together with the Crash Investigation Unit, have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
