WOMAN INJURED DURING FALL AT COFFS BREAKWALL

The normally serene breakwall walk to Muttonbird Island became the scene of a challenging rescue for the SES early this morning.

Emergency services were called around 5am, with reports a woman had fallen five metres onto rocks.

The 54-year-old had slipped between large concrete blocks and was unable to free herself.

She sustained head, wrist and leg injuries and was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital in a serious condition.
