MORE JOB TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES ANNOUNCED FOR HUNTER RESIDENTS

There could be more job training opportunities for unemployed people in the Hunter, following the success of TAFE’s Job Trainer Program.

More than 125, 000 short courses have been delivered to people across the state over the last 12 months.

“Within the Hunter, very excited to see that more than 10, 000 have taken up short courses or full courses, with a high student satisfaction rate of nearly 85 per cent.” – Geoff Lee, NSW Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education.

The state minister says he’s in negotiations with the Federal Government to launch ‘Job Trainer 2.’

Mr Lee says the region has a strong potential for employment growth in the childcare, aged care and disability sectors, as well as IT, health and manufacturing.

“Despite the pandemic, there’s been a 25 per cent increase in the number of apprentices from last year.

During a difficult time, employees are still employing apprentices and trainees, which is a great sign.”
