MAN FACES COURT OVER HUNTER VALLEY STABBING

A young man has faced court today charged over an alleged stabbing in the Hunter Valley on Friday.

Two men, known to each other, got into a fight outside a home on Lockwood Street in Huntlee around 11pm.

Police say one of the men, a 24-year-old, realised he’d been stabbed in his side and was taken to Cessnock Hospital, before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man in relation to the stabbing on Saturday night.

He was charged with reckless wounding (DV) and armed with intent cause indictable offence.

He was granted conditional bail at Newcastle Local Court today, and is due to reappear at Cessnock Local Court next week.
