NEW SOUTH WALES RECORDS 1029 NEW COVID CASES
The regional lockdown has been extended for another two weeks, after New South Wales recorded 1029 new COVID cases overnight – a new record.
The state also set a new record for vaccinations with 136,000 people getting the jab yesterday.
It’s prompted the Premier to announce a new freedom for people outside Sydney’s LGAs of concern: people who are fully vaccinated can gather outdoors in groups of five.
However, the regional lockdown has been extended until September 10 to help stop the spread.
The Hunter recorded NO new COVID cases overnight and there were two on the Central Coast.
Traces of the virus have been detected in sewage at Tamworth, which has no known cases.
People with the mildest of symptoms are urged to come forward and get tested.
