LIFE OF IDEMITSU’S BOGGABRI COAL MINE COULD BE EXTENDED

Due to shut down in 2033, Idemitsu Australia Resources wants to extend its Boggabri Coal Mine licence by another six years, and extract an additional 61-point-6 million tonnes of coal.

The plan, worth $513 million, is right now being considered by Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.

The mine is also seeking approval to build an animal crossing over one of its roads.
