A young woman has tested positive for COVID-19 on the mid-north coast.
It’s understood she travelled to Tuncurry from Newcastle on August 5, got tested and the result was negative.
But then she got tested again on August 9, and was confirmed to have the virus.
Hunter New England Health says there is no evidence of community transmission at this stage, but it’s closely monitoring the situation.
Her household contacts are isolating and have so far tested negative.
Local member, Stephen Bromhead, says he’s been contacted by the health district on this matter and urging the community not to panic.
