WOMAN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED DURING AGGRAVATED BREAK AND ENTER
A man is on the run, after sexually assaulting a woman during an aggravated break and enter in Newcastle.
At around 3.20 yesterday afternoon, the 20-year-old was in her bedroom at a home on Turana Parade at North Lambton when a man entered the room, armed with a knife and threatened her.
She attempted to alert neighbours, before the man grabbed her and sexually assaulted her.
He then fled and the woman sought help from other residents, who called police.
Police launched an investigation under Strike Force Oorin and they’re looking for a man of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s, with a solid and athletic build, a broad nose, short black hair who’s unshaven.
Officers are urging anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision to come forward, including from areas in Turana Parade, Lester Parade, Faulkner Crescent, Sunset Boulevard and University Drive between 1pm and 5pm.
Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers immediately.
Police will address the media this afternoon at 1 o’clock.
