MOREE GRATEFUL TO BE INCLUDED IN BORDER EXEMPTIONS

Most of New South Wales may have been locked out of Queensland in the early hours, but residents of the Moree Plains region will still be able to cross the border for essential services.

People living in border communities will be able to use a pass to cross into the Sunshine State to access services such as medical care – unlike previous closures.

“A huge number of our people go to Toowoomba and the Gold Coast and Brisbane for their care and they were locked out and we were treated like we weren’t Australians and that is not the way it should be.”

Mayor Katrina Humphries says she’s pleased common sense has prevailed.
