Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Darby Street in Newcastle this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the southern end of the street just before 1pm.
They arrived to find the man suffering gun shot wound to the chest.
The man, of unknown age, was was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived.
