112 NEW COVID CASES RECORDED, LOCKDOWN LIKELY TO BE EXTENDED
COVID case numbers have soared to 112 overnight, with Greater Sydney residents told the lockdown could last for weeks.
34 of those were out in the community during their infectious period and most were family and close friends of a positive case.
New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian reiterated to the community that only essential travel is permitted for those under stay-at-home orders.
“Don’t leave home unless you absolutely have to,” she said.
Around 48,000 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.
“It’s pleasing to see those testing numbers remaining high, but we have got more capacity,” said the state’s chief health officer, Dr Kerry Chant.
