In celebration of NAIDOC week, (GUM-BANG-YIRR) Gumbaynggirr artist, Otis Carey, has teamed up with Fender Guitars and musician, Dan Sultan to create a piece of ‘playable art’.
The Fender guitar is now up for auction.
Carey says it pays homage to the land and ocean around his home in Coffs Harbour.
“The piece of art I’ve created, the body of work is called GAAGAL, for us Gumbaynggirr mob. Gaagal the ocean, is one of our clan tokens, so very important. Has a lot of healing elements, very uplifting.”
Money raised will go towards Aboriginal charity, Children’s Ground.
Bidding currently sits at $6,000 with the auction ending on the 25th of July.
