NORTH WEST MAN FINED THOUSANDS FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING

A man has been fined thousands of dollars for illegally dumping near Narrabri last August.

A large amount of rubbish was left in the Etoo State Forest, near the village of Pilliga.

Stephen Budgen from the Environment Protection Authority said the incident was captured on camera, as part of a crackdown by the EPA, state Forestry Corporation and Narrabri Shire Council.

“Coordination between agencies means our state forests are very well monitored and protected,” Mr Budgen said.

“Keeping our forests clean is a priority and anyone considering dumping waste illegally is at significant risk of getting caught.”

The man was fined $4,000 for dumping the waste, which included a mattress, a sofa frame and a large barrel of household waste.

He was also ordered to clean the mess up.
