NAIDOC DISPLAY A STEP FORWARD FOR HEALING COUNTRY

Activities might have been postponed but that hasn’t stopped one Taree store from recognising NAIDOC Week.

Taree Spotlight has created a colourful and cultural display- turning heads along the main street.

It features a variety of handcrafted sculptures and paintings alongside specially designed quilts and sheets.

The local Aboriginal Land Council says the display is a great step forward for healing country.

“It’s something we did back in 2019 when they did do the march down the street, we just thought it would be great to show our support every year because they are a huge part of our community here in Taree so it’s a great way to showcase that,” Store manager Jessica Yarnold said.

NAIDOC Week activities in Taree will be held in late September.
