A man has been charged with murder after a body was found inside a unit in Newcastle last night.
Police were called to the property on Regent Street at Mayfield at around 6.30pm, and discovered the body of a 63-year-old man in a bedroom.
After making inquiries, officers arrested another man, aged 35, in Argenton and he was taken to Waratah police station.
He’s since been charged with one count of murder and refused bail.
He was due to face Newcastle Bail Court this morning but that court date has been pushed back.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted tomorrow.
