HUNTER MOTHER JAILED OVER DAUGHTER’S DEATH
A Hunter woman has been jailed over the death of her child in 2018.
The mother, who can’t be identified for legal reasons, was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, with a non parole of 2 years and 3 months, after being found guilty of manslaughter by criminal negligence.
The woman failed to get medical assistance for her 20-month old daughter, after she sustained fatal injuries at the hands of the woman’s partner at the time, Timothy Whiteley.
Whiteley was jailed for at least 24 years in February, for the child’s murder.
