EXCAVATORS BROUGHT IN TO MOVE FALLEN TREES ALONG BYRON BAY’S BEACHES
The clean up along Byron Bay’s Main Beach has begun with machinery brought in to help move trees.
The most recent coastal erosion was caused by large swell and high tides nearly two weeks ago.
Council workers will push the fallen trees back into the dunes to help protect them from further erosion.
Large tarps were also laid at some beach entrances, to allow kayak groups to safely access the water.
It’s the first time excavators have been used along the beach since the most recent weather event.
