CATTLE STOLEN AT GLEN INNES – MAN CHARGED

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing cattle from the saleyards in Glen Innes, earlier this year.

On March 2, the 27-year-old man allegedly loaded 25 weaner cattle into a truck and attempted to flee the scene.

As the truck travelled away, some of the weaners fell from the truck.

Some of the cattle suffered significant injuries and needed to be euthanised.

Investigators attended a property south of Tenterfield last week, where a crime scene warrant was executed and numerous cattle were seized.

On Monday June 1, police found the man at an address in Glen Innes and issued him a court attendance notice for two counts of steal cattle and two counts of commit an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal.

Police will also allege in court, the man was involved in the theft of 8 weaner cattle from the same saleyard in October last year.

He’s due to appear at Glen Innes Local Court on Friday July 16.
