Police are treating a fire that destroyed two homes south of Bulahdelah as suspicious.
The blaze tore through a vacant property on Heron Street at Nerong, yesterday morning.
It quickly spread to a neighbouring house, where a 69-year-old man managed to escape uninjured.
One of the homes had only just been put on the market.
