A family of five has escaped unharmed after their Port Macquarie home was destroyed by fire last night.
At about 6:30 fire crews were called to the Macleay Valley Street property, where they spent over an hour extinguishing the blaze.
Residents in surrounding homes were evacuated for a short time with concerns about the stability of gas bottles on site.
