MIXED DAY FOR HUNTER SPORTS HIGH AT THE BILL TURNER SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Mixed results for the local teams in the Bill Turner football finals, with the Hunter Sports High boys losing four-nil to Ipswich in their semi at Speers Point.

There was better news for the Sports High girls, who sealed a spot in tomorrow’s decider by beating Cairns 3-0.

Josie Allan, Paige Abberfield and Savannah White all found the back of the net in the first half.

“We’ve played a few tough teams, but we’ve pulled up very well which is great, it just feels amazing to be in the grand final,” said Layla Whyte.

They’ll face Westfields Sports High at 1pm.
