WHITEHAVEN COAL APPROVED TO BURY HUNDREDS OF TYRES

Despite backlash from the local community, Whitehaven Coal has received approval to bury hundreds of heavy vehicle machinery tyres at their Tarrawonga mine site.
Nearby farmers were pushing the mining giant to explore more sustainable options for disposing of the waste, such as recycling.
As stated in Whitehaven’s Modification Report this isn’t feasible due to current recycling technologies being focused on passenger tyres.
