POLICE STRATEGY TO WORK WITH COMMUNITIES

New South Wales police have begun holding workshops, aimed at improving ties with indigenous communities.
The first of 40 was held in Coffs Harbour this morning.
One local, Brian Bolt says he’s already seeing a positive change in attitudes towards officers, through the implementation of a new communication model.
“I think they’re improving a lot, I think with the strategic plan coming into play… I think there are a lot more Indigenous employees in the workforce, so it gives them a bit more of a voice and a platform to speak from.”
The next information session will be held at the Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre on Thursday morning.
