LANDOWNERS WARNED ABOUT BLACKLEG

North Coast landowners are being warned, to keep a close eye on their cattle, after several cases of the fatal Blackleg disease were detected across the region.

Younger animals contract the disease from eating contaminated feed or soil – common symptoms include lameness, fatigue and anorexia.

North Coast Local Land Services recommend farmers regularly vaccinate their cattle and quarantine animals believed to be infected.
