Richmond MP, Justine Elliott, is calling for police resources to be boosted in Pottsville.
The town has reportedly seen a spike in youth crime and car thefts.
The former officer says the state government should put more boots on the ground in the Tweed/Byron Police District, particularly as the population increases.
“Locals have been telling me for so long we just don’t have enough police in our area and crime is out of control. And the fact is, we now have less police today than we did 10 years ago,” she said.
Member for Tweed, Geoff Provest, is sponsoring a petition asking for more police in the Pottsville region.
