TAMWORTH TICKING BOXES AS QANTAS ANNOUNCES ACADEMY CRITERIA

Qantas has released its criteria for a planned pilot training academy.

Tamworth Regional Council and the state member for Tamworth have been in ongoing talks with the airline, putting Tamworth on the list for consideration.

Student accommodation, maintenance and parking hangars, and lengthy runways all make up the criteria – and are all things Tamworth can offer.

Qantas hopes to have the academy up and running by next year.

It could potentially train up to 500 pilots each year.
