BYRON’S MAYOR TO STEP DOWN FROM TOP JOB NEXT FRIDAY

Byron Shire’s Mayor has announced he will resign from his roles in local government next Friday.

Simon Richardson says some of his biggest achievements in council include the bypass, interchange and skatepark projects.

Last year, Councillor Richardson said he would not recontest the local government elections, which were meant to be held last September.

Current Deputy Mayor, Michael Lyon, has confirmed to NBN News he will run for the top job.
