COMMUNITY PLANTS THOUSANDS OF TREES AT UMINA

Umina Beach has kickstarted a state-wide project which will see 75,000 trees planted in regional areas.
10,000 new trees will grow on the Central Coast, with 2,000 of these placed along Umina Beach today.
It’s all part of the Greater Bank’s 75-year anniversary, which hopes to protect the local environment.
Umina Community Group’s Tony Winch says, “What we’re really doing is taking away those foreign plants and bringing back the plants that are local to this area to allow the local species to prosper and also protect the beach for everybody.”
While Joshua Swetnam from the Greater Bank says, “There’ll be more plantings that we’re going to be going over the next month or so up and down from New South Wales.”
