MAN CHARGED OVER ARMED ROBBERY AT LAKE MACQUARIE
A man will face court today over an alleged armed robbery in Lake Macquarie last week.
Just after 7.30am on April 7, a man entered a grocery store on Cowlishaw Street, Redhead, and approached the counter.
The man allegedly threatened an employee with a knife, before stealing cigarettes and running away.
No one was physically hurt during the incident.
Police set up a crime scene and started an investigation.
Following inquiries, the 18-year-old man was arrested at a Windale home, about 2pm yesterday.
He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.
The Windale man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
