CALLS TO EXTEND BALLINA’S COVID CLINIC TO 7 DAYS A WEEK

There are growing calls to extend Ballina’s COVID testing clinic at the Tamar Shopping Village to seven days a week.

The clinic is open on week days only.

It comes after lengthy delays were reported at Lismore Base Hospital over the weekend, with some patients waiting up to four hours to get swabbed.

“If someone needs to get tested over the weekend they got to go to Lismore or Byron Bay now trying to get to Byron Bay to get tested it’s near impossible,” Mayor David Wright said.

More than 1200 people got tested across the local health district last weekend.
