DRUNK PRIEST ESCAPES JAIL

Disgraced South Grafton Catholic priest Peter Jones has escaped jail time after being charged with one of the highest blood-alcohol readings ever recorded in the state.
The St Patrick’s Parish priest returned a blood alcohol content of 0.341, almost seven times the legal limit, when he was pulled over by police at Cowper in October last year.
The 58-year old faced the Maclean Local Court today, where he was handed a 12-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to the offence.
He also had his drivers licence disqualified until October 2014, and fined $100.
It’s the second time the priest has faced court for a high-range drink-driving offence.
