An 82-year-old man has been flown to John Hunter Hospital with serious chest injuries, following a two vehicle crash in Cessnock this morning.
A team from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended the scene just after 8:30, with reports that multiple people were trapped, suffering serious injuries.
Emergency services were able to free them and begin treatment.
The elderly male passenger was stabilised by the critical care team before being rushed to hospital.
At this stage it is unclear how many were injured.
