COUNCIL TERMINATES NEWCASTLE MARINE RESCUE’S LEASE EARLY

A question mark hangs over the future use of Newcastle’s historic Shepherds Hill Cottage, after council terminated Marine Rescue’s lease nearly two years early.
The cottage was severely damaged by the April 20-15 storm, which forced Newcastle Marine Rescue to find alternate headquarters.
Council today told NBN News that the agreement allowed either party to end the lease early if damage made the property unfit for occupation.
The Marine Rescue organisation says it’s devastated but refused to make any further comment.
