WEEKEND WASHED AWAY

Multiple parts of New South Wales have been dramatically impacted by floods in the last 48 hours.

Flooding waters have swept through parts of the Mid North Coast, all the way down to Sydney.

An evacuation warning was issued this morning for residents in low lying areas in

– Central Wingham and the Wingham Peninsular
– Taree Estate, Dumaresq Island and Cundletown
– Laurieton, North Haven, Dunbogan and Diamond Head
– Kings Point and Macksville
– Wauchope and Rawdon Island
– Bulahdelah
– Kempsey CBD
– Lower Macleay
– Port Macquarie
As a result, temporary emergency accommodation has been set up and people are encouraged to take advantage of these spaces to remain safe. A full list of evacuation centres can be found on the NSW SES Facebook page or website.
The NSW SES have attended many road incidents and extensive damage to homes and property continue to be reported. In Taree this morning, a residential home was spotted floating down the flooded Manning River.
A number of road closures have been announced, including the Pacific Highway between  between Taree and Coopernook. It is advised that drivers check for road closures before taking to the road. Anyone can register to receive SMS alerts for major road closures on www.nswincidentalerts.com .
