WATCH | DRAMATIC POLICE PURSUIT THROUGH TWEED HEADS
Dashcam has captured a dramatic police chase through Tweed Heads, where an allegedly stolen Mercedes was driven onto the wrong side of the road – seen dodging oncoming traffic.
Police say the 16-year-old male driver reached speeds of 150 kilometres per hour during the pursuit yesterday afternoon.
“We allege that the driver of that vehicle drove extremely dangerous, put a lot of lives at risk especially members of the public and the police,” Chief Insp Mick Dempsey said.
Road spikes were successfully deployed – bringing the car to a stop.
The driver as well as a 13 and 23-year-old passenger were arrested.
All were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and were charged with a string of offences.
