NSW GOVERNMENT TO ENFORCE HARSHER PENALTIES FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY

Harsher penalties will soon be enforced for animal cruelty offences across the state.

An Amendment Bill to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act passed through the Legislative Council this morning.

It will see fines of up to $44,000 for individuals and $220,000 for companies abusing animals.

Those failing to provide an animal with food or shelter will now also be subject to heftier fines, along with six months imprisonment.
