FLOOD UPDATES | GRAHAMSTOWN DAM SPILLING

Heavy rain continues to hammer down across most of the broadcast region.
Port Stephens, Coffs Harbour, Macksville and Kempsey are among the hardest hit areas this morning, with wild weather and flood evacuation warnings in place in some low-lying spots.

Foreshore Drive between Corlette and Salamander Bay looks a lot worse this morning than it did yesterday.
The road continues to collapse as a torrent of water rushes out of the Mambo Wetlands.

It was at 98 percent capacity yesterday and this morning, the Grahamstown dam is spilling for the first time in five years. Port Stephens has recorded hundreds of millimetres of rain in the past 24 hours.

More than a dozen roads are closed across Port Stephens today, and several businesses are affected by it. At Nelson Bay, it’s the calm before the next storm – more heavy rain is expected to hit the area from midday.

Despite repeated warnings not to drive through flooded roads, our crew just witnessed this motorist ignoring the road barriers… drove around the fencing and almost mowed down a council worker at Redhead in Lake Macquarie.
