CHARGES LAID OVER DEATH OF CHARLESTOWN TEENAGER

A man will today face court charged with murder, after the death of a teenage boy in Lake Macquarie.
About 12.30am yesterday, police were called to a unit on Charlestown Road at Charlestown, after reports a teenage boy was found unresponsive.
Upon arrival, police found the body of a 16-year-old boy inside the unit.
Officers set up a crime scene and started an investigation into the teenager’s death.
After inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested in a carpark on Weakleys Drive, Thornton, about 2.10am yesterday.
The man was taken to Maitland Police Station, before being transferred to the Mater Hospital.
He was released and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with murder.
The man was refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court today.
The pair are known to each other.
Investigations are ongoing.
