INQUIRY FINDS STATEWIDE TEACHER SHORTAGE

Hunter teachers have come together to learn more about an independent inquiry, which found their workloads have increased, but their pay hasn’t.
The inquiry also pointed to a statewide staff shortage.
“A disparity has opened up between teachers’ wages and others in the professional parts of our society and that’s holding back incentives to get young people to take on the career of teaching.” – Dr Geoff Gallop, Inquiry Chairman.
The Teachers Federation will meet with the state government to discuss the report’s recommendations.
