COFFS CITY COUNCIL AWARDED TOP LIFEBLOOD TEAM

Coffs Harbour City Council has been crowned the the region’s top blood donor team.

Staff made more than 170 blood and plasma donations last year through the Red Cross – the effort helping save 522 lives.

The cause is one close to team champion, Naomi Cook’s heart.

Her daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour at 18 months old.

“Had significant surgeries for that and lost a lot of blood so she is alive today not only because of the surgeons that treated her but also the fact that there were people out there that donate blood products because because she essentially required that to stay alive during that surgery.”

The top 48 teams’ efforts helping save nearly 10,000 lives.
