CHAFFEY DAM ENVIRONMENTAL WATER RELEASE SCALED BACK

A planned environmental water release from Chaffey Dam has been scaled back.

A planned six-point-two-five gigalitres of water will be pulled back to just four-gigalitres…after local irrigators voiced concerns.

Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce says he wants more done..

“I’ve also written to the Minister Josh Frydenberg to relay those concerns and see if there’s any potential for this smaller section, which is the Commonwealth section, to be held back.”

Decisions on the remainder of the water lie in the hands of the state government.
