A 25-year-old Tamworth man has been charged overnight with torture, beating and cause of death to a dog.
Police received reports just after 5pm that a dog had been stabbed in the backyard of a Cossa Street home in West Tamworth.
The owner rushed the female dog to a nearby vet, but she sadly didn’t survive the night.
Patrolling police arrested the man known to the woman, nearby on Robert Street at around 5.40pm.
The man will appear in Tamworth Bail Court today.
