LAKE MACQUARIE WELCOMED 40 NEW CITIZENS

On Australia Day, Prime Minister Scott Morrison boasted Australia as being “the most successful and cohesive immigration and multicultural nation on earth.”

True to this remark, hundreds of people were honored with Australian Citizenship this week.

Locally, in Lake Macquarie, 40 new Australian citizens from right across the world were officially welcomed at an Australia Day ceremony at Rathmines Theatre.

They come from the UK, New Zealand, Russia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Israel, USA, France and Lithuania, just to name a few.

Lake Macquarie Mayor, Cr Kay Fraser was pleased to welcome so many people who bring a vast array of culture to share with the community.

“Welcoming people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe to Lake Macquarie enriches our community and makes us who we are today. We are proud of our diversity and of the welcoming nature of our city.”

Lake Macquarie Council also welcomed 25 new citizens in a ceremony in November.
