DRIVER CHARGED OVER CENTRAL COAST POLICE PURSUIT
A woman has been charged and a passenger is on the run, after a pursuit on the Central Coast last night.
Just before 9pm, police were patrolling the Erina area when they tried to stop a Toyota Corolla on Terrigal Drive.
The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit started.
Police put out road spikes, before the Corolla hit a tree on Milina Street.
The driver, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested, and taken to Gosford Hospital for observation.
A male passenger ran away, and despite the assistance of the Dog Unit, he couldn’t be found.
Police searched the vehicle, and took two firearms and weapons including a baton and baseball bat, to undergo forensic examination.
Upon release from hospital, the woman was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly and driving a vehicle while disqualified.
She was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Bail Court today.
Inquiries are continuing to find the passenger.
