LIFEGUARDS AND LIFESAVERS BRACE FOR BUSY DAYS

The drowning of a 46-year-old man at Kolora Lake Reserve at Yamba yesterday afternoon, marks the third water-related death in as many days on the Northern Rivers.
With temperatures in the high 30s and large crowds for New Years, lifeguards and Lifesavers are bracing for an extremely busy, and potentially dangerous, few days.
Extra lifeguards will be stationed at Main Beach in Byron Bay between 6pm and 2am to prevent people taking to the water at night during New Year’s celebrations.
State-wide, 12 people have died in water-related accidents in the last week.
