30 NEW CASES IN NSW, ALL IN SYDNEY’S NORTHERN BEACHES

30 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in New South Wales overnight.

All cases are from the Northern Beaches, with 28 linked to the Avalon Cluster.

The other two are under investigation, but are also believed to be linked to the cluster.

In the past 24 hours more than 28,000 people were tested for the virus.

A raft of new rules has been introduced for people in Greater Sydney areas, including the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains.

From midnight tonight, residents are being urged to

– Get tested if they have any flu-like symptoms and isolate until a negative result is recorded.
– Have no more than 10 people in their homes.
– Hospitality venues, places of worships and gyms must revert to the 1 person per 4 square metres rule.
– No dancing, singing or chanting is allowed.
– A cap of 300 people in hospitality venues and places of worship
– not visit any aged care facilities.

The changes will remain in place until midnight on Wednesday, as contact tracers work to get the outbreak under control.

There’s fresh concern in the Hunter, after a COVID positive case visited Raymond Terrace McDonalds on Tuesday 15 December between 11:45 and 12:15pm.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is considered a casual contact and should get tested immediately and isolate until they receive a negative result.

Everyone across the state is being urged to closely follow NSW health advice and get tested immediately if any flu-like symptoms develop.
