A woman is in a critical condition, after a car crash at Port Stephens this afternoon.
Shortly after midday, police were driving along Medowie Road near Ringwood Road when they spotted the vehicle.
They found the woman trapped inside.
She was freed and taken to John Hunter Hospital under police escort.
Medowie Road remains closed, with diversions in place.
It’s expected the road could be closed for some time, with a crime scene now established.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
