Westdale residents and business owners have handed over a petition with 600 signatures to Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson in a bid to drop the speed limit near the shopping centre on the Oxley Highway.
With a noticeable increase in traffic and customers, residents believe the current 70 kilometre an hour zone should be reduced to 60.
A primary school and pre-school are located just metres away.
The local member is expected to lodge the petition in parliament next week.
