The Rural Fire Service will be on heightened alert across the Far North Coast over the next couple of days with a very high fire danger rating issued for the region.
All fire permits will be suspended from midnight tonight until Tuesday.
It comes as authorities in Queensland issue a local fire ban for several regions, including the Scenic Rim and Gold Coast.
